Circumcision Partially Recommended
Circumcision is popular among Coptic Christian churches and it might be required for membership.1 Such rites are usually performed at puberty. Boys can give consent, but only if they are mature and not coerced. Boys and adult males choosing such rites should be fully informed about the procedure, its complications, and long-term consequences.
All American citizens have freedom of religion. You might consider that, although you are a practicing Coptic, your son might not choose that religion for himself, and, by circumcising him, you are denying his freedom of religion.
