Circumcision Not Recommended

With or without a foreskin, your child will touch himself. This might be uncomfortable for you to think about or witness, but his exploration to learn about his body is quite natural.

Part of the problem is America’s prudishness left over from the Victorian era. Doctors introduced circumcision into America in the mid-1800s to prevent masturbation, which they fancied to be the cause of various health problems.1 On the contrary, we now know that its practice by adolescents actually contributes positively to their sexual development. Besides, the absence of the foreskin in no way prevents masturbation.2
